Could Social Media Networking Help NXT Prospects?

by Rob Sutter

As someone who's interested in seeing how professional wrestling is going to progress from this point, I am all for seeing the future of the business. When it comes to World Wrestling Entertainment, there is no better area to do this than NXT. It's the developmental territory for wrestlers to learn the ropes or simply become polished so that they will be primed for the main shows. In order to get their characters across better, could social media networking prove to be the useful method to take up?

YouTube has become one of the biggest sources for visual media and wrestling characters stand a great chance of portraying better characters this way. One example that I can look to is Big E Langston, whose looks are very much deceiving. He may appear to be someone who can bulldoze over any opponent with ease but it's surprising that he's able to showcase personality that's better than many stars that base their routines around it. It's a sense of humor Langston has which is better suited for TV.

Another NXT star who could benefit from the usage of online marketing methods would have to be Kassius Ohno. For those who watch independent wrestling, you may know him better as Chris Hero, so it's not like he's a small, unknown guy who stepped into the company one day. He actually has a background, though newer fans probably wouldn't be able to pick up on this. Why not allow him to post more about himself so that he can bring newer fans up to speed?

If you're talking about the female stars of NXT, then you can be certain that at least a few of them can make great use of social media networking as well. Paige, for example, is one of my standouts because of how quiet she is outside of the ring and the viciousness she portrays inside of it. Wouldn't she be able to make Tweets, which are short messages which are able to get the point across well? Her character would benefit from such a platform that firms such as fishbat would recommend.

I think that social media networking can be immensely useful for those who don't have a strong public presence. They want to be able to gain more followers and fans, which is why I suggest the showcasing of personality through these platforms. These are, in my mind at least, some of the best because I think that they are able to showcase personality in some of the finest ways. Only then will they be able to gain a sense of fan growth which can be deemed organic.
